If you have ANY suggestions for future meetings, please post those here. If you see a topic you like please "second" or "third" that topic, so we can measure the level of interest. Thanks. -Brad
I really like the idea of discussing professional development opportunities. I'm currently trying to come up with ideas for next year. Currently I've only found online classes like these: http://corporateeducation.sessions.edu/classes/ . Maybe we should start a thread to share those resources...
Brion, there is already a Professional Development thread here on the ProComm site. Feel free to post any resources there. If we have a "Professional Development" meeting topic, I would like to try to find some people who have attended past conferences/seminars or used specific online resources to speak to the effectiveness and pros/cons. Just my two cents. What does everyone else think?
Knowing if particular conferences are any good is always nice, but I'm not sure if it's necessary for a meeting, or if it could just be covered in the "Professional Development" thread. Could be interesting though.
Again... I am not suggesting we have a meeting just to announce professional development opportunities, but discuss in general (i.e. how to show the boss the value of professional development) and then have people share specific experiences. Sort of "mini professional development" summaries from the group. Or perhaps we could ask people to post their experiences on the Professional Development discussion forum. And then ask one person to speak in more detail and share some of that knowledge.
Random idea... What does everyone think about the topic of "Using the ProComm site to share/gain knowledge and resources"? We could do a hands on demo of the functionality--blogs, discussion forum, event listings, etc. Thoughts?
I think that's a great idea Brad. Even though I've explored a bit, it'd be great to learn about all the options we have here and to hopefully get a little more activity going on the site.
Am responding to your email of last week about topic choices. Going over the ProComm site this month and doing professional development in April sounds good.
