For those of you who are interested, Coudal Partners and Adobe are putting on weekly Layer Tennis matches. They're super fun to watch live. Today they're doing an exhibition with all of the players, but next week they start the matches.
Definitely some of the crazier versions of layertennis that I've seen. Personally I like a couple more rules and a longer time limit, but I'm game as long as I can pass it off as "training".
Well, we could start a match here. We'd have a loose time limit of a day or two (longer on the weekends). We could pick any size really & we'll have to have enough people that actually come here to judge it. We'll start with just a few rounds and probably just stick with Photoshop & Illustrator.
I'll come up with some formal rules and post them here to see what you guys think. :)
At HOW Conference most years they have a session called "Iron Designer" (a la "Iron Chef"). It is done live in front of an audience. And a panel of 4-5 designers are given a challenge to complete in a short time frame. Then judges eliminate. Another round. Eliminate. Then the final winner. It's always cool to watch it live! I had not heard of Layer Tennis. But it sounds sort of similar. Maybe we could do a Layer Tennis or Iron Designer live event on campus sometime. :)
