Thanks everyone for joining us in our Layer Tennis event today. I had a great time and hope you all did as well. I'd like to ask for feedback about what we did today. Do you think we should continue having these types of events? Or do you think we should strictly have them just online in the forums.

Please, help us out and let us know what you think. :)

Also, in case you missed it, we had two competitors today. A big thanks goes out to Charlie Apel and Tanya Baker for stepping up to the plate. They each had time to create two 640 by 480 comps in succession. Charlie won the toss and went first, he created a holiday themed piece using Pantone 360 :). He then volleyed it over to Tanya who brought in a large, city crushing frog. She sent the piece over to Charlie who created an armada of frogs carrying Santa Clause. (Not sure if they were bent on world destruction or not, but I'm not discounting that option.) Then, Tanya created a piece with Kanye West, enjoying some quiet time with floating frogs at his seat at the next VMAs. In the end, Charlie pulled out the win & won some fabulous prizes. :)

Again, thanks for joining us today, and please let us know what you thought and what you think we could do better.

I'm ready for the rematch... I know how it works now. :)
I'm bringing the "Rocky" theme music and a ton of images - so I don't have to rely on the internet.
Bring it on!!!

It was a lot of fun - stressful - but fun.
Nothing like having 15+ people looking over your shoulder and someone counting down the time. 15 minutes sounds like a lot - but it goes by very quickly.
Thanks for a great time.

This was definitely one of the most fun, creative events in a LONG time!! We should start doing some Layer Tennis matches in the future online. One person has a day/night to create something, then the next day/night someone else works on it. And it volleys back and forth a few times. Then the membership can vote on a winner. And I can send a prize to the winner via campus mail!! What do you all think?

Hey Guys, I had a great time. Good game, Tanya! There's nothing like a Pop Layer Tennis Match. I think that this can be a very creative thing that we do -- something away from the normal routines and ruts. As much as I'd love to watch over the shoulder of some good designers and see how they work, I think making more rounds a priority would improve the match. It would give the designers a little more time to develop some ideas and even somewhat of a story (I, personally, appreciate the matches that have even somewhat of a storyline.)

A day seems long to me. 15 minutes was short, but I think adequate to force out some potentially creative, not-over-analyzed ideas. However, I'm sure that we don't want to keep anyone from their work or an urgent request that may arise that day ('cause that never happens). So, maybe somewhere in between?

And I bet a site setup similar to the official LYT site, really wouldn't be to hard to setup. And probably just allow comments instead of having to have a commentator in the mix.

Just some thoughts. Thanks again!!

Thanks again Charlie and Tanya, you guys were great. :)

Ideally, I'd love for the match to go a few more rounds as well, but then everyone would be here all day. I just don't know about the logistics of that...

If we did have the matches on this site, it might bring more interest this way.

Another thing we could do instead of Layer Tennis is Lightboxing.

Pretty cool concept too. :)

To clarify... I did not mean someone should spend an entire day/night on one volley. I just meant that someone could "claim it", work on it when they had time, and then post his/her layer that night or the next morning. Then another designer would "claim it" and work on his/her turn as time permitted. It's just an ongoing way to keep the creative muscles in shape! ;)
