Ever wonder about what things you should avoid when trying to market your product - look no further than Monopoly City Streets. MCS is quite possibly one of the most ingenious marketing strategies I've ever seen, and it has become the most epic failure I know of as well.
The idea of playing Monopoly on real streets using Google Maps generated over 17 million hits in the first day. The interwebs were overrun with rabid Monopoly players ready to snatch up their favorite streets. I myself bought u…

O.K. Here's the problem I encountered. I get an email from Brad Dressler saying that so far NO ONE has replied to his emails about attending a Professional Development Meeting. Well, I
can't reply to his email (it's a "do-not reply" email) so I click immediately on the tamcon.ning site.
I expect to be taken to a "thread" on the email Brad posted, much as I would with, say, FB. But, I can find no such thread. I search all over the site and can't find ANY way to respond directly to his que…

At today's ProComm meeting the topic of E-newsletters arose. We are considering it as a meeting topic. Seems to be something worth discussing. Do you have any suggestions on best practices for e-newseltters? Thanks.

I was reading in the Chronicle of Higher Ed about the hundred universities that are signed up on youtube's new college and university section so, as is my wont, I clicked and went to it, expecting to see Texas A&M prominently displayed. Much to my chagrin, I saw Harvard, MIT and Texas Tech, Princeton, UCLA and Georgia Tech and 94 others, but no sign of TAMU.
I know we're trying to stay on top of everything social media-wise, so I'm thinking we need to be on youtube.com/edu. Don't get me wro…

I was on a similar project back in 2005 that never came into fruition. They've done a pretty good job with it - although I have no idea how many prospective students are actually looking at it.

One of the projects I have been working on for the Office of Admissions and Records is representing our various groups (applicants, different admissions decisions, prospects) in Google Earth for a more visual interpretation of our data. Several groups have wanted a more technical demonstration of the process beginning with the raw data and moving forward to the actual seeing and saving in Google Earth. On that note, if you are interested in sitting in on this demonstration,
please leave a com…

Of course you could use Stumbleupon.com and hope to randomly find some interesting sites to inspire, but who wants that kind of effort when SXSW has already done it for you.

From Recruitment minute (weekly student-recruiting tips & trends from TargetX)
Thought this might of interest to you
Capturing and holding the attention of students is really no harder than any other consumer segment, says marketer Jeff Mills. The key is to build credibility, gain trust and stay relevant to their needs and interests.
A recent survey by Mills' company, eROI, looked at how students communicate digitally. "The results showed some eye-opening trends and preferences associated…

The web templates for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have become available. I've had some fun putting departmental content into them. I've been struck so far by how little content the WFSC website actually has. Once the transition to the new template is complete I hope to change that.
I'm learning the ins and outs of Dreamweaver CS3 in this process.
The COALS team has done a great job of making parts of the departmental web people's jobs easier.
